Joomla/JCE "Read More" bug

I discovered a little bug in the excellent Joomla JCE Editor today. After a fresh install of Joomla 1.5.14 and JCE 1.5.7, I noticed that, when you click the "read more" editor button to add a page break the editor gave up the ghost and you were redirected back to the administrator homepage.

Using htaccess to create a 301 error code

If you, as we just have, rebuild your website and, hence, the page names and architecture, you will need to tell Google where to find the equivalent of the pages it already has cached. If you just let your old website pages disappear without telling Google this information you will be leaving loads of dead ends, broken links, and losing loads of hard earned page ranking.

Joomla 1.5 Content Image Margin Problem

The default image margin in Joomla has never been particularly satisfying. In Joomla 1.0 the mosimage plugin surrounded each image with a margin equal on both sides using the hspace attribute. This way it didn't matter whether the image was aligned left or right because it had the same amount of margin deposited around it regardless. Not liking this concept, we adapted the mosimage plugin so that it "intelligently" used one-sided margins to that the page edges looked tidier; adding only right margin for images left aligned and vice vera. Then Joomla 1.5 came along and we had to go back to the drawing board.
